Itinerary

Day 1:ย  Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

+

Today, you will travel south to Kibale Forest National Park, widely celebrated as the Primate Capital of the World with over 13 primate species, including the iconic chimpanzees. Enjoy a scenic drive through tea plantations and traditional villages, stopping for lunch along the way. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and unwind after the journey, or opt for a guided community walk to explore the local culture and stunning landscapes surrounding Kibale.

Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

+

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing by the park rangers. After the briefing, you will be assigned a professional guide who will lead you into the lush forest for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Kibale Forest is famous for its high concentration of chimpanzees, making this trek one of the best opportunities in Africa to observe these intelligent primates in their natural habitat.

After the trek, you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ugandaโ€™s most visited wildlife reserve. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for a scenic boat safari on the Kazinga Channelโ€”a natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. This channel is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with crocodiles, buffalo herds, elephants along the shores, and a variety of birdlife such as African fish eagles, herons, and kingfishers.

Later, enjoy a late afternoon game drive across the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, searching for lions, elephants, antelopes, and other wildlife before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3:ย  Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Isasha Sector

+

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departing for the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a region world-famous for its rare tree-climbing lions. This area offers a 60โ€“70% chance of spotting these unique lions resting in the fig trees, though sightings can varyโ€”especially when the lions move into the grasslands to hunt. If youโ€™re lucky to find them perched high in the branches, it makes for an unforgettable and incredibly photogenic moment.

After your game drive in Ishasha, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. The journey offers spectacular views of the rolling highlands and terraced hillsides of the Kigezi regionโ€”often called the โ€œSwitzerland of Africa.โ€ You will arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for the next dayโ€™s gorilla trekking experience.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

+

After breakfast, you will head to the ranger station for a briefing on the guidelines for gorilla trekking. Once prepared, you will begin your trek into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This ancient rainforest is breathtakingโ€”steep, mist-covered, and dense, yet interwoven with wildlife trails that make trekking possible. The duration and difficulty of the trek depend on the movement of the gorillas, as they roam freely through the forest.

When you locate a gorilla family, you will spend one unforgettable hour in their presence, observing their behavior and capturing the magic of these gentle, endangered giants in their natural habitat. This encounter is often described as one of the most profound wildlife experiences in Africa.

After the trek, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Ugandaโ€™s most scenic and tranquil lakes, where you will relax and unwind for the night.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe

+

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your lodge while taking in the stunning views of Lake Bunyonyi. Afterward, begin your return journey to Entebbe International Airport. You will make stopovers along the Masaka Road for lunch and to stretch before continuing with the scenic drive. Expect to arrive in the evening for your airport drop-off, marking the end of your unforgettable 5-day Uganda safari adventure.
